We haven't seen any of these on the Sierra Club outings yet, however at the beginning of the bike trail there is a sign about alligators. You are not supposed to feed them. Keep your hands and feet away!

Spanish moss in the oaks along one of the fairways.

The "Spanish Moss" is not really a moss, but an air fern.   It derives its nutrients and moisture from the air and dust.   The fern is not parasitic to the trees on which it resides.

Here you can see the edge of the old fairways against the oak woods.   The fairways are growing back to their natural state, now mostly shrubs and grasses, some have pines also.   Eventually they will be like the surrounding woods.   Osprey and many other birds are common in this area.
